Mycarta vs Bone Saddle
« on: September 01, 2017, 07:47:16 PM »
Ok so I've had my 914ce SB for for about 5 months now....love it!

That being said I hear much talk about this Colosi fella and his  "magicianry" with all things bone.

Far as I know mine came with a bone nut / mycarta saddle / Ebony bridge pins.....(see attached specs from Taylor website)

I'm thinking on replacing the saddle with one of these "Colosi specials".......

Any thoughts suggestions comments from the T-Nut gallery? On this mod or any other to the 914?

It sounds incredible as is...BUT....you know how we are...always searching for that  "MORE"...whether it be strings, picks etc.....

Thanks in advance!!!

Taylor says that Micarta is used on saddles for ES2 equipped guitars, because they feel that it works better with the ES2 than other materials. That said, you probably would want to hear for yourself. It's a small investment. If you don't like the resultant change, you can simply switch back to the Micarta saddle. Taylor can also install a bone saddle (as they have done on several of my guitars, all but one of which are equipped with bone nuts and saddles). It happens to be my preference, but you'll have to decide for yourself. Hope this helps...
