Hi,
Been looking at 1992 Taylor 710 LTD and have a couple questions:
1) What makes this guitar a "Limited" edition?
2) How does it compare to a 1992 Taylor 810?

A little Google searching brought up this link to one for sale:

So it would be BRW back & sides and Engelmann spruce top. I also see a 1-11/16" nut width. The 700 series back in those days were generally EIR and cedar. Since I don't play dreads, this is not my area of expertise. 700 and 800 often had similar inlays and trim.
As a rule the LTD's usually gave you different woods than standard, alternate trim packages, and other features for less than the cost of going custom or BTO. They are/were usually a pretty good value.

Which LTD
Do you have the complete model #?
I doubt all LTDs (usually different, spring or fall) were BRZ, but I don’t know…
If you can find the serial # you can call Taylor Support and they can probably find out.
You will need the spec sheet or talk to whoever is selling. Nut width might vary.

This is the answer right here. Every "Limited" varies by year, and "Fall" or "Spring" models as Taylor rolled them out. They were always a good value for wood and aesthetic options that were bundled for that model; and now as used guitars they are an even better value. Call the mothership if you need specifics for any given Ltd's specs.

I'm the original owner of a 1991 Taylor 515 Ltd. Jumbo. It's a beautiful figured spruce top over highly figured mahogany back and sides. Body has a venetian cutaway and Taylor pickguiard, and the mahogany/ebony neck has an 1 11/16" nut. About 4-5 years after I got my 515, Taylor introduced the Leo Kottke 6-string (LKSM -6) guitar. The LKSM-6 has the same body size, body and neck woods and venetian cutaway as my guitar. The only differences are no pickguard or fretboard dots on the fretboard of the LKSM-6. So I have always wondered if Taylor maybe built 515 Ltd. as a market test for the LKSM-6? (The LKSM-12 was first announced in 1990.) My 515 sounds clear, warm and big! It excels at altered tunings, and flatpicks and fingerpiks equally well. I think the early1990s Taylor Ltd. guitars got some of the special sauce!
