Title: How Many NGD's Did We Have in 2023?
Post by: TaylorGirl on December 31, 2022, 02:21:39 PM
We have been running this thread each year to keep track of all our NGD's (new guitar day):
2013 - 118 reported NGD's
2014 - 169 reported NGD's
2015 - 112 reported NGD's
2016 - 160 reported NGD's
2017 - 137 reported NGD's
2018 -   88 reported NGD's
2019 -   82 reported NGD's
2020 -   60 reported NGD's
2021 -   61 reported NGD's
2022 -   38 reported NGD's

This is for 2023 NGD's, which includes Taylors AND non-Taylors, acoustic and electric. It can be new or new-to-you (used).

BE SURE TO NUMBER YOUR GUITAR IN YOUR POST (i.e. #xx), TO KEEP THE COUNT GOING. If the member does not number their guitar in their post, I will modify their post to add the number, so we all can see the count.

ALSO, LETS KEEP THIS THREAD JUST AS A COUNT.....PLEASE PUT ALL OTHER DISCUSSION (REPLIES) ABOUT THESE NEW GUITARS IN SEPARATE THREADS (we encourage separate detailed NGD threads). OTHERWISE THIS GETS TOO COMPLICATED AND CONFUSING (PICTURES OF, AND COMMENTS ABOUT YOUR NEW/USED GUITAR ARE ENCOURAGED). THANKS.

#3; 1973 American Dream, (pre-Taylor) dreadnought.  Built in Sam Radding's shop, possibly by Sam or Bob.  Bob bought the business in '74 and started Taylor Guitars.

We're off to a slow start this year folks - gonna have to get in gear!

#7  2009(?) Bedell Parlor  OH-12-G - Surprisingly well made and detailed little living room guitar.

#8  2014 Taylor 712ce - 14-fret Indian Rosewood and Sitka with Vintage Sunburst finish.  Original owner rarely played it but enjoyed its beauty as home decor - sold on his passing.  Looks like it just came home from the music store - still had the original strings!

2018 312ce 12 fret.
Been looking for one of these for a while, but don't seem to come up very often. Clean example with the exception of the removed pickguard so it's got a tan line. Sent a email to the mother ship to see about a replacement. Otherwise very happy.

I just can't believe half the year is behind us and yet I'm only 9 in reporting.

#11.

Traded my Academy 12e in on a new Spruce/ironbark 514ce recently.   I was able to take advantage of Taylor’s trade in offer which meant I ended up receiving more for the A12e than I paid for it after 6 years of playing it!

Still early days with the 514ce but it’s so good!  Can’t believe how perfect it is straight away.    Doesn’t need any setup work at all and it just seems to blow me away no matter what I play!

#18.  Jackson CBXNT DX IV bass.  Yes, a hideous color, and the collection of visual characteristics makes it the most controversial bass on the Internet.  The name is so hard to remember that everyone is calling it "The Jackenbacker" because it sounds like a Rickenbacker 4003.  "Clank, clank, clank."  But if you love the Rick sound, this is a fabulous, inexpensive way to get it.

#19 a Rainsong APSE - Al Petteway Special Edition.  Basically an OM with short 24.9" scale and copperburst paint scheme.  It was very lightly used and coincidentally shipped from the seller on the day that Al died.  Now Rainsong is going out of business, so this is probably the very last one built.

2015 Taylor 322e 12 fret from Dave's Guitar in Lacrosse,WI. Bought a 2018 312ce in June and fell in love,so much that I  wanted a older 322 (standard bracing). Haven't been real sold on the V Class stuff. With this, I should be good for a while.

#24 and #25. Two more for me in November. A 2017 814ce Deluxe (I seem to be obsessed with 800 series guitars just now) and an absolute gem. Rob Armstrong, a brilliant English luthier, is ‘cashing in his pension’ by selling off the ‘extra’ guitars he’s built over the 50 years or so he’s been making. His private collection is truly extraordinary. Every guitar is different, all built using hand tools, most of which he made himself. No power tools used at all. This guitar is Brazilian Rosewood and Cedar, 000 size but much deeper, and with a centre section in the back of golden stained fiddleback mahogany. It’s magnificent.

32&33. Vintage VE2000 Gordon Giltrap Signature Deluxe model 6 string, Vintage VE2000 GG 12 string. Bought as travel guitars, turns out they’re much better than that. It’s a sickness, isn’t it? ;)
