NGD: 2011 Taylor Leo Kottke 6 string
« on: October 12, 2016, 08:55:28 PM »
I posted a few weeks ago about this guitar....mocking me on ebay.....so, I pulled the trigger and bought it. This guitar was a "new old stock" guitar, so it is literally in brand new condition. It is simply great, typical Taylor playability, and tonally, just lovely. I really like the aesthetic simplicity of the Leo Kottke model. I added a few things to it....Gotoh 510 mini tuners (with faux tortoise "Schaller" buttons) and LR Baggs Element Active pickup.

Here are some pics and a quick video:

congrats, Jimmy.....is the baggs element with the "lock-n-load" variety, or the newer version with battery inside guitar? very anxious to hear what you think of that pickup in your "new" Kottke!

I have the Element Active in the Kottke. It has a 9V battery powering the preamp with volume/tone control mounted in the soundhole. The Element is a pretty typical undersaddle transducer....quacky. I run the pickup through a Fishman Aura Spectrum which is THE box to settle down piezo pickups and get a nice amplified sound.
