Abbreviations / Acronyms / Initialisms
« on: February 09, 2012, 08:03:54 AM »
I'm starting this thread because I know there are some here, like me, don't always stay up with the latest tweeting and texting techniques and need this sort of listing to decipher your posts. Trying to keep the list to entries contextually relevant to the forum. Make a post if you know of any that should be added and I will update the table here.

Thanks from all of us who struggle trying to figure out your short script.

Here's some more for your list that seem to come up a lot:

BRW = Brazilian Rosewood
NxD = New {anything} Day, such as New Guitar Day, New Amp Day, New Banjo Day (??!?)
UST = Undersaddle transducer, a piezo pickup. Fishman Matrix, for example.
AST = Acoustic Soundboard Transducer, fits within the guitar on the bridge plate. K&K Pure Western Mini, for example.
Mic = Microphone
ES = Expression System (after all, this is UTGF!)
LS = Lucky Strike, referring to a specific redwood log renowned for its sound
TB = Tonno Basso, another redwood log known for its, well, bass
The Tree = Another named mahogany log that is known for its tortoiseshell-like figure

OMG

Could you put those in alphabetical order for me?
i think they're mostly in alphabetical order, by section -
i'll edit what i can see is out of order & i'll separate the
guitar acronyms & abbreviations from  the general ones

there should be an app for this, but i don't know how well it would work ???
smartphones try to second guess - 'proletariat' rather than people ... or peeps
