Changes when you're getting old
« on: July 23, 2012, 02:23:41 PM »
It's not easy to keep playing when you're getting older. Arthritis may cause problems, muscles can no longer apply the same force, fingers won't stretch that far anymore, backproblems make you rest on the guitar more then average, etc. etc. Not even mentioning changing bathroom habbits or food and sleepdisorders, which are not part of this discussion.
Changing string gauges, wider shorter neck, slightly different size body may all help and I wonder what the more 'mature' players did to keep playing (purposely avoiding words like old, decrepid, farty, grumpy or pain in the butt).
Slowly becoming one myself, I think it may help in making future decisions when it comes to guitars.
As for decisions about your spouse, there's a seperate thread for that one, :)
It's allready been mentioned that it also influences your choice of the sound you're looking for, what's your general perception of which way in coloration it goes?
