One of the great Hawaiian performers and song writer passed away yesterday at 61 from lung cancer. Some of his songs are standards that every Hawaiian music group plays.

He played his stickered up Taylor for as long as I've know his music.

Sorry to hear this, Jay. He was not only very talented but evidently a really good guy too. I know you'll miss his music.

So sorry to hear this, I saw him at a Slack Key Festival in Alexandria, VA with fellow UTGF'r Imorroy. What a great talent and wonderful person. I didn't get to meet him personally but his goodness was evident.
RIP... :(

Rev. Dennis has now gone to join the ancestors. So sad for us, but his Earthly troubles are over. I will play Wahine Ilikea (one of my favorite tunes) in the sunshine today, thinking about him.
I was privileged to see Dennis and George Kahumoku play once in Anchorage, and got to meet them both after the show. What a treat to encounter such gentlemen.

Earl, That's one of many great Dennis songs. I've been singing and playing "Koke'e" for the past two days. I got to see him perform 3 different times. always a great show.
