NGD! Taylor BTO
« on: June 29, 2016, 07:48:14 PM »
GS Custom just arrived today. Even better than I hoped! Definite bass presence and the wood is awesome!

Specs: GS Cutaway, no electronics.

Quilted Mahogany, Adirondack Spruce top and bracing. Tree inlay with Cocobolo binding and rosette and Gotoh tuners with bone nut and saddle.

24 hours in and it is a keeper for certain! I've typically liked Adirondack tops paired with mahogany but this is my first Taylor with either. Definitely a strong bass rumble, in a good way! The quilted mahogany is a special set and my dealer was able to choose it for the build.

I've heard that Taylor prefers to mix bracing and top materials, but it sounds as if you and I made the right choice on our respective BTO 's. Enjoy!

Can you take a more detailed pic of the inlay on the neck? It looks absolutely amazing!

I'll try and take a close up tomorrow of the tree inlay. It's an option on the Custom Worksheet. Koa trunk with Paua and Black Oyster.

I'd seen this inlay on 2-3 guitars at the Taylor Road Shows and really liked it. Everything else on the guitar is wood with the exception of the Taylor logo, which is Mother of Pearl and the bridge pin dots.
