I have never had a problem with Elixir Nanoweb strings.  My last set says it has anti-rust on the plain steels.  this set is probably 6 months old from the store.
What is the difference between Nanoweb and polyweb strings?  My local (small town) guitar shop only carries the nanoweb, and have never tried the polyweb.
the PolyWeb coating is much thicker, making the wound strings much 'slicker', have more of a whitish-appearance,
which is most noticeable near the wraps at the ball end & they are more 'mellow' in tone than the NanoWebs

in terms of acoustic strings, PolyWebs are only available in the 80/20s & not the phosphor bronze
the PolyWebs are offered in the electric strings also
it's not about what you play,
it's all about why you play ...
