songwriting seat
« on: August 23, 2016, 02:44:49 PM »
First post, but been a long time lurker.

I'm looking around for ideas on a good songwriting seat/setup. I know there's been a number of threads on guitar seats, but they all are seats meant for sitting back and holding a guitar comfortably. With songwriting, I need to both hold a guitar and have a surface to write on.

I've been sitting on the couch and writing on the coffee table, but it's really not all that comfortable. I also don't find sitting at the kitchen table all that great.

I'm very small, by the way - 5'1. It would be nice to have a very small stool that I could sit on and then write at the coffee table, but I haven't found anything comfortable yet.

Anyone have ideas, either for a specific chair that is good, or some kind of set up that I'm not thinking of?

What has worked for me is:

An armless office chair with a height adjustment
A small PC desk
A guitar stand in case I want to put it down (depending on whether you want to write on paper or create a document on your PC)

Hope this helps
