Loved it Scriptor.  Top shelf all the way through.

Bravo Scriptor! Beautiful tune and recording. What a privilige to this with your son. Super! Would love to know how you recorded your 812 and 814.

Thanks everyone! ... as for recording the Taylor's, I'm still experimenting but for this recording, I mic'd them and ran them direct at the same time ... after recording, I decided how to mix the direct tracks with the mic'd tracks ... in general, I was pleased with the outcome ...

That is just outrageous.  I love it.  Wouldn't mind being your friend so you could write one for me!

PS. Listened to it on my relatively flat studio monitors in a decently configured room and I though the mix was really outstanding...seriously, very well done.  That should be in a movie sound track or something.  It's amazing how something so well done might not see the light of day, but Miley Cirus will.  The world is upside down, completely.

Oh, forgot to ask, is that in DADGAD?

Oh, forgot to ask, is that in DADGAD?

Thanks for the kind comments ... and no, not DADGAD ... my "secret weapon" is a partial capo ... it capos 3 strings at the 2nd fret: 5th, 4th and 3rd ... makes for a kind of alternate tuning without having to retune ... it has inspired quite a few new instrumentals over the years ... this is the one I use:

That's awesome, it essentially makes DADGAD, but in E, so EBEABE.  I really like that because sometimes you don't want your tunes to be so bass-y.  methinks me has to purchase said shubb!  Then I won't have to retune in a gig when wanting to use DADGAD. Although, can I sing the songs a step up!?!? HA!

Correct guitarsrsoawesome ... it takes some practice to get used to the personality and nuances of using the partial capo ... but another advantage is that chord shapes remain the same except for using the un-capoed strings sometimes as drones and sometimes for really nice chord variants ... I got my partial capo a few years ago and use it all the time ... most recently I worked up arrangements of Amazing Grace, a few hymn medleys, Danny Boy and a few others to play at church ... it's fun, kinda gives some new inspiration to songs you already know and everyone looks at that little capo and says "what in the world is that?" ...  8)
