If you could only have one Taylor.....
« on: September 27, 2015, 11:55:14 AM »
We have done this thread before, but there has been the redesigned 800 and 600 series since then, so I would like to pose the question again. You can only have one Taylor, what would it be?

After a couple on minutes of thought, I'd hang on to my GS-Mini. Easy to fly with, and a great instrument for camping trips.

It would be my 2006 koa / spruce GS, bought used and locally in 2010.  It is my best guitar, period - satisfying tonally, visually, playability and comfort-wise.  Second choice would be my all koa 2007 424 LTD.

I got to spend some time with the new 600's and 800's recently.  They are very nice and will be "lifetime" guitars for many, but I already have mine.  The newer offerings are appealing, but I'm all set.
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
*Gone but not forgotten:  a 2001 414ce, 410, 354-LTD twelve string, 314-N, 416-LTD baritone, T5 Classic, 615ce, 2006 GS-K, 1996 (first year) Baby

Everything considered (tone, volume, looks, feel, etc.) I'd say my K24ce.

I was hoping you would pick something else and would give me your K24ce...  :P

They're still making K24's Kristen if you really want one.  But if I were starting down that road anew, I would opt for a K26.

If I could only have one, it's a toss-up between my 516e and my custom GA 12 fret. The latter is strictly acoustic, but I could play in front of a mike, if push comes to shove. No way will I consider adding a pickup to that one. The 516e can go either way, plugged in or not. So it is more flexible out of the gate.

818e grand orchestra

kind of a no-brainer for me, since it's the guitar i play the most (75+%) and my only taylor 6 string.

have not felt any need for another 6 string since i got this one.

I do have only one Taylor--my 314ce. If I had to have another one, I think I would really like a GS in the 600 or 800 series. That would be a save it for my grandkids kind of guitar.

This question is no longer easy for me...I love all the guitars in my signature, so it would be difficult at best to pick one...each wood combination offers something special and unique. I'm blessed to have them all, because each one's perceived weakness is compensated for by another's strength. In my long quest to find THE ONE, I've concluded that it doesn't exist. If stranded on a desert island, I'd be happy to be left with any one of these.....

2014 K24e - master grade koa
2018 Custom GA - bear claw sitka spruce/mahogany
2019 614 - torrified sitka spruce/flamed maple
2020 714 - lutz spruce/rosewood

I may or may not have purchased a K26 today. Maybe. Maybe not  :o
