So I decided to try this Grandpa thing.
« on: June 28, 2012, 08:55:06 PM »
My oldest daughter, Chrissy, gave birth Wednesday around 1:00 pm to our first grandchild Micah Daniel.
Mom, dad, and new 7-pound, 8-ounce son are all doing fine.

Chrissy wanted my wife there there, and so she got to see the birth. She's super excited.
Seeing my own three kids born was plenty for me.

I took care of Chrissy's dogs during the event. Got to eat some chocolate chip cookies while at her house.
So far, I'm liking this grandpa gig.  ;)

So this evening I was in the hospital room burping the new addition and my daughter proceeded to tell me that they were playing my music during the delivery.

I made a CD of my recorded songs last year for each of the kids. Unknown to me, Chrissy put them all on her i-pod.
So during the delivery, she wanted my music playing when the baby was born and that's what they played from her i-pod.

Pretty special for me.  :)

Hmmmmm. That was a public broadcast. I should get royalties.   ;D

Wow congratulations Carl!!  That sounds like it's going to be a fun gig indeed.  You should get a new guitar to celebrate!!  ;D

Congratulations all around!  You are blessed.  No grandkids for us... our daughter and son-in-law are both teachers... may be the world's best form of birth control.  ;D  Everyone I know who has grandkids says they're better than kids.  You'll have to keep us posted.

Best wishes,

Hee-hee! I LOVE this idea! As the baby grows, keep buying a new Taylor to represent your grandson! :) Start with a baby Taylor then move up to a GS Mini for the toddler years...this could become LOTS of fun for all of us! ;) While everyone else is pulling out baby pictures of Micah, you can pull out your "Micah" guitars! :D

Congratulations! I am truly happy for you and your family. ;D

First off, congratulations.  Second, I think your royalties came in the form of a new grandson.

Congrats on the birth of your first grandchild.  We have two and man it is the way to go.  You can really get to your children by letting the grand kids do stuff that you wouldn't let them do when they were young.  You can make them really rotten and then send them home and get a good nights sleep!
All the best to you and your family, enjoy them because they really grow up fast...

 :) :) Best advice I've heard yet.  :) :)

Thanks for all of the well wishes, folks.  I'm looking forward to his growing up.

Actually, I’ve now started thinking about a new CD for a genre that’s been largely ignored in the music world:  “Music to give birth by”.

I’ve got some titles, just need the songs now.

1. Water, Water Everywhere!  with  Where are the Car Keys? reprise

2. Get me to the Hospital on Time.

3. Real Cowgirls Don’t Use A Saddle Block.

4. Breathe to the Disco Beat

5. You Did This to Me, Mister.

6. Get Mad and Push, Honey

Feel free to submit your contributions and we can make it a compilation CD.
