I should have never explored for guitars. ending up buying a very unique organic piece. ships tomorrow but I don't know how long it will take.

wanted something with amazing tone and less bling than my 2011 cedar 914ce (which is gorgeous)

strumming fool, you're not allowed to give up my surprise hahaha but thx for being in contact with me.

my guess is ???
https://www.taylorguitars.com/guitars/acoustic/314ce-rw-ltd

sort of close, but pretty far away.

here are some hints.

it's a custom GA, and only a handful (handful + 1 to be exact) were made. it was to celebrate a milestone.

simplistic appointments, to let the wood shine. :)

the one thing that is annoying, is that it doesn't have gotoh tuners. i need to find a source for those.

thx strumming fool and michaelw. i called a local certified taylor tech shop in FL today, they made me sound crazy for wanting to change tuners...they also said "are you sure you have to drill a new hole?"

so i'm looking for a another location to get this done.

i'll call lmi tomorrow, b/c i'm getting lost in all the options, even after looking at gotoh's site.

guitar supposedly arrives friday!!!

That's surprising about that tech saying that as surely he knows many multiplied Taylor owners have "drilled another hole" to upgrade to Gotohs.  Of course, the highest end Taylors come equipped with Gotohs, so it's should not be a surprise that others with the standard Taylor tuners want to also have them.  If you search this forum there's a post from the last year or two where a member executed the install himself with photos.  He was very pleased with result...anyway, I know you know all of this, else you wouldn't want to do the conversion, but just surprised to hear the luthier poo poo it...

yea, i was surprised. i called taylor and they gave me the phone number to this luthier. needless to say, i'm not taking mine there lol.

i will say that the guitar wasn't spec'd by me, but it is VERY close to what i wanted to do w/ a BTO. i would have paid to just get the gotoh's from taylor (plus the set screw would be hidden haha)

i found some useful threads, but i haven't found a definitive part # that i need, so i will call lmi tomorrow.

to be honest, i'm terrified at the idea of myself drilling into this guitar, i feel much safer having someone w/ skilled hands to do it.

my mother in law has a friend that apparently is a custom builder, so i will ask him to take a look on sunday.

guitar "should" arrive friday, i may take off 1/2 day and work from home to make sure i sign for it.

sorry for the suspense, but i went from "not in the market" to buying a guitar i've been thinking about in a matter of days haha

this forum is dangerous!!!

Lol, yes, you should immediately cease & desist logging into this forum if you wish to remain free of Guitar Acquisition Syndrome as well Upgraditis, Although the latter tends to be a less expensive malady than the former. Also watch out for Amp Seeking Syndrome, which can also get quite expensive when members start talking about their AER's, Bose L1's and Fishman Soloamps! Watch out!  Ha!

"Upgraditis" - love it!!     ;D ;D 8)   Potentially just as dangerous too.
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
*Gone but not forgotten:  a 2001 414ce, 410, 354-LTD twelve string, 314-N, 416-LTD baritone, T5 Classic, 615ce, 2006 GS-K, 1996 (first year) Baby

lol yea. literally went from waiting for 5 years to looking a gs mini koa with es2 to a custom GA. in a matter of days

found the gotohs on lmi, now have to figure out the luthier situation. (no way I'm drilling)

I also started nosing around for guitar racks.

when does this stop!!!!

also find it interesting that this custom GA was Spec'd with Tusq nut and saddle. this gives me a relatively close A/B to my cedar/rosewood 914 with bone nut and saddle

and no I didn't buy another cedar/rosewood combo haha
