114SB (Sunburst)
« on: January 02, 2014, 09:05:49 PM »
I played a 114 recently. Sounded and played real nice.

Called the store today to ask if they had anymore 114's in stock.

They still have the one I played a week or two back so I just put a deposit on it.

And I'd forgotten but it is a 114SB (sunburst edition). No electronics, no cutaway, just the plain 114 in sunburst.

Can't wait.

Thanks Jersey,

Yes, some nice guitars around my budget.

I think it will do me for a few years together with my GS Mini  :)

Hey congrats! Don't forget pics when you get it. I haven't seen a 114 in sunburst, I bet it's beautiful.

Thanks Lizzy,

Will get some pics when I pick it up. End of January the way its going. At least I have secured it with a deposit.

I didn't really take notice it was a sunburst when I briefly played it.  I was more focused on the GS Mini.

I do recall how nice it played, comfy to hold and sounded pretty sweet.

Not sure how many 114's Taylor has made in the Sunburst ?

Hoping this & my GS Mini will meet all my acoustic needs.  (at least fo a few years).  :)

Thanks Michael,

When I bought my mini a few weeks ago, I tried several other guitars & this 114 stood out. But at the time I never even took much notice of the sunburst. Didn't even know they made them in SB. I have seen one with the cutaway & pickup installed somewhere but that was about $500 more than my budget. Looks nice though.

I am in Australia and my local guitar shop has a few of these in stock apparantly. Along with the Koa & Rosewood Minis.

 :)

Just got home with the 114SB !

How do I post a pic ? I don't have photo bucket or whatever that stuff is.

This thing plays & sounds really nice and looks great in the sunburst. :)

if you can take a picture of it, even with a cell phone, & send to your e-mail as a
picture message, copy it from the e-mail & save it to the desktop of your computer -
while your composing you post, click on "Attachments and other options" on the lower left side
of the screen below the text box, click the "Choose file" button from the pop-up window, click on
"Desktop" from the next pop-up window, find the name of the file you've given to the picture,
click on it, then "Open", click the "Preview" button on the lower right hand side of the screen
to make sure your post is how you want it, then click on "Post" ... that's all there is to it :)

Thanks Michael,

You make it sound so easy! :)

Yes, she is a beauty! Not made in US or solid back & sides, but best acoustic I've ever owned (next to my GS Mini)!

Cheers,

Paul.

Do all the 114's have back binding? guess I never noticed. Neat looking guitar in the youtube vid. The player mumbled a bit. I couldn't understand a word he said!

I'm pretty certain they do.

My sunburst model has back binding.

What I am pleased with is the action & playability. I play a Strat & Tele and am used to low action and string guages. 08's on my Strat.

This is the closest I've come to electric neck feel on an acoustic. Just wish my GS Mini was this good.

the 100 series has body binding & unbound fretboards, which kind of reminds me a little of a d18

.008"s ???
do you have locking tuners on your strat, because whenever i try to restring something with .008's,
well, let's just say i'm glad some strings manufacturers include an extra e string in the pack ;)

if for some reason later on down the line, you feel you're spending more time with the 114 & much less with the Mini,
you may want to consider trying out a big Baby, as the scale length is the same as the 114, with a very slim neck

Hi Jimmer,

Got mine from Cranbourne Music, Cranbourne. (Melb, Australia) www.cranbournemusic.com.au

Not sure where you are ?

I'm pretty sure I spied at least 2 others on their rack although the 114's are not even listed on their online store.
