Ted, do they offer a BTO option to create a 12fret GA like the limited 814 12fret lmited they had a year or so ago?

Just checked the current 12-Fret work sheet and although I might suggest a few changes it does look like you could duplicate it.

I hate to be a "me-too"-er, but with the quiescing of R Taylor for 2012, I'll have to sate myself with a BTO this year.  Could someone email me the BTO information, too?

TIA!

It would really depend on the customer but I would probably suggest staying away from duplicating any LTD, I think it's much more fun having something that is your own. Even if a client wanted to stay as close to the LTD as possible we could still go with wood binding instead of plastic, Adirondack bracing and bone nut and saddle. I would also loose the pick guard. If you are not in love with slotted headstocks you can go with a bound, solid headstock with Gotoh's. It just depends on how close to the LTD you want to stay.

There's a caveat that should be taken into consideration with any of the BTO sheets floating around the web.

Not all options work with every other option listed.

For instance, you can get fiber or colored (blue, green or red) purfling with some bindings, but not with others. There's no way to know that when simply filling out the worksheet, though. When the information's entered into the BTO software program at Taylor, the conflicts become evident.

Just because you can dream it up doesn't mean they're gonna' build it. They just won't do certain things. That said, it's still the best "custom" program in the industry...
