Alamo has uploaded a second vid comparing the GP to D-18 and J-45 Standard and Vintage. I’ve never been good at distinguishing tone differences from these videos. It would probably help to wear headphones and crank it up.

I listened to that 4 way Alamo comparison and I think the GP held its own.  I think it clearly was the most balanced of the 4, although I did like the bigger bass of the Martin

I sure do want to get my hands on one to try out.
Dreadnoughts are not my bag, but that tone from the video is my bag.
I must try that warm Fall evening tone the presenter is talking about.
Also, they are promoting something else I like, the no Electronics and no cut-a-way.

Thanks for posting - I think that Taylor has another home run on its hands - now the Taylor line is fully distinctively Taylor - rather than trying to imitate a D28 or a J45, Andy has designed a pleasing amalgam of the vintage sounds these iconic guitars brought to music over the years. Aesthetically, they possess none of the boxy-looking appearance of the typical dreadnought. The lines are graceful and curvier than their vintage counterparts, making for a nice (and hopefully more comfortable) stage guitar.

I'm intrigued, and I will certainly test drive them when available.

Thanks again!

Although  , I myself  am probably not in the market for another guitar, I find this very exciting and look forward to playing one ( just for fun) when they hit the stores. Go Taylor !!!

I'm really digging the sounds of the recordings.  I'd have to play one first, but the only concern for me personally are these are strung with mediums, and as an amateur steel string classical fingerstylist (I know I'm weird preferring steel strings to nylons for classical work), it might be too much work.  But I guess you never know unless you try.

Unfortunately, I disagree. I found both the D-18 and J-45 to have a "thicker" sort of undertone that I personally preferred. A shame, really, as I feel like Taylor is still Taylor, so I wouldn't call it a new or different sort of Taylor tone, it is nice for what it is, but for the style of flatpicking in the Alamo Music comparison, I preferred the Martin and Gibson.

I already have a D-18. I think the only other guitar I'd like to add to my "collection" is a J-45. And now a 517 or 717. ;D

It's funny how we all hear different things based on what our ears like to hear. After listening to the four guitars, I rated them best to worst as follows:

J45V, 517, D18 (surprising as this is my favorite Martin dred) and J45 standard. The 517 had no sour notes unlike the other three. That's just me...
