« on: January 25, 2012, 09:11:03 AM »
Has anyone seen this ebay ad for a Taylor Air Guitar? :o Why would someone post an ad like this? Let's please keep the discussions civil...although I am wondering why an ad like this was even placed. ???

no mention of body size, cutaway, pick up, 6 or 12 string,
nut width, scale length, neck carve, playability or acton ::)

is this a lemon grove, santee, el cajon or tecate model &
is the air case a gig or hardbag, standard or deluxe model ???

i'd send a message & ask for a picture of the back ;)

Is it a three piece or two piece back?  From the picture, it looks like some amazing figured maple ;D

it's difficult to tell because it looks like there aren't any back purfling strips ;)
i like the choice of finish & i'm wondering if that was an upgrade as well ???

i'm pretty sure it has a NT neck with scarfjoint headstock, but from another angle,
it looks like it could have a preNT neck, as i can almost see the headstock 'wings' ;)

if the seller has some additional pics, using some different lighting to cut down on some of the glare & reflections,
if it looks similar to this, i may have to place a bid - 'Bill Me Later' & free shipping, but no approval period ... ok, no deal ;D

:( I thought it was pretty funny. I wonder if the number of views had anything to do with its being removed? Oh well...guess I'll hold out in case someone else offers a similar model. ::)

Josh, if what you're saying is true & the air guitar was yours,
might this have possibly been Steve's guitar, then ???

Taylor air guitars always sound thin to me. I prefer my air guitars to have more body, which is why my favorite is from Beijing.

Or rather, it was my favorite. One night I left it out on my Hercules stand, and...

it got knocked over & snapped the headstock or did it float away ???
i guess that could be an inherent issue with 'ultra-light' builds -
not enough mass to engage the auto-lock headstock yoke on a Hercules

i hope your guitar reappears soon, Cotten -
if it doesn't, i hope that you can find another one that 'speaks' to you as much as that one did, as i know
it was a special one-of-a-kind commissioned build, & because they can be inconsistent (the pretty looking
ones don't always sound the best), i would suggest against purchasing one if it has no approval period ;)

if the guitar ends up needing to be replaced,
this option is definitely worth considering, imho :D

the helium & nitrous-aire LTD guitars are a gas too ;D
