Another Taylor Story
« on: July 02, 2018, 03:17:16 PM »
Hey Guys!

Haven't been on this site for awhile!!!

Ok, went into a music store to buy some strings, and walked out with the strings and another Taylor!!!
What the heck??  Ha!

Checking out some guitars as I always do before buying the strings, and spy this sunburst on the wall - a 710e...
Never that interested in Taylor dreadnoughts - always found the bass a little thin for a large body guitar.  And my
Martin D-18 GE, and an older D-28vr fill that spot up nicely.  That sunburst sure looked killer though, so I took it off
the wall for a go.
Whoa!  Big, rich bass!  Nice mids and singing trebles!!
Maybe not as prominent a bass as the Martins, but very rich and soooo sweet!  What???
And it's a short scale (should have known by the slot head), so it plays like the proverbial butter!
Guess I haven't played any Taylor dreads since the re-voicing, and definitely have never played one with a Lutz top!
Clear ringing notes all the way up the neck - doesn't "plink" out like a lot of guitars will up the neck...

Well, I need a another guitar like I need a hole in the head (especially another dread), but one more bluegrassy type
lick on this thing up the neck and I was taking it to the counter!

Ya... :P

What a beauty! Those western burst tops are my favorite (and I'm not typically a burst fan). So classy!
Enjoy!

Great find!  The 700's are great all-around guitars; Lutz Spruce makes a great soundboard and the burst finish really sets that series apart.  Like Susie, I'm not a big burst fan, but the one on the current 700's is really nice.  Enjoy!

Congrats!!! That’s an awesome instrument right there. You can’t go wrong with a Lutz/EIR dread. And I agree with everyone that the Western Sunburst is simply gorgeous. Enjoy!

Thanks Guys!

Ya, I've never been much on sunbursts either, but I really like this pale burst!  If it hadn't of caught my eye, I probably
wouldn't have picked it up at all - glad I did!

Not sure I've ever played a Lutz spruce topped guitar before, but I'm likin' it!  Think it may almost have the headroom of
red spruce, very loud and clear.
It's giving the D-18 GE a run for it's money!  Ha!
