American Idol
« on: March 13, 2018, 01:28:18 PM »
I don’t know how many people watch this show, but my wife loves it, which means I’m watching it too. I noticed that a lot of these young artists are using Taylor Guitars. You still see some Martin, Gibson’s, etc, but it seemed like the majority were rocking Taylor. I love too see how tastes are changing with the younger generation and their instrument choices.

We don't watch that show, but do notice the same thing in other shows, in advertisements for local bands, in magazines and on music book covers, etc. More often than not, we see Taylor's. But, I don't think it's just a young person thing, because more and more of the "seasoned" players (did you notice that euphemism for us "older" players  ;)) are becoming loyal Taylor owners. But, you are so right in your observation. It's cool to see. In fact, a couple of my "die hard other brand" friends have bought Taylor's. I think people are being open to new voicings and greater tone wood options, and are feeling comfortable when they put that new Taylor in their hands.

I appreciate the use of “seasoned.” I have noticed that too with seeing Taylor’s kind of all over the place. The bottom line is they make high quality instruments and it’s bound to catch on. I think we are finally seeing that on a more wide scale. I love it.

And you're looking at one. I've been a user of Gibson Acoustics since 1971, and love the brand. Only recently (within the last 30 days) have I become a Taylor owner, in a situation described in this thread: http://www.unofficialtaylorguitarforum.com/index.php?topic=8864.msg105175#msg105175, and the experience has changed my entire 65 yoa outlook.
