If you have transportation, you can be across San Angelo in 15 minutes. The steak place, sadly is about thirty minutes from town.
If you have transportation, try Zentner's Daughter...one of the best steak places in town. There is not an abundance of choices near the airport. They also have a great burger!
If you have a layover, holler. I'm available for dining and a tour!

Thanks, Frank! I'll keep that in mind if I get a hankerin' for steak! I won't have transportation if I get to San Angelo -- aside from the Piper
Cherokee I arrive in... City officials typically frown on it if you land on the street and taxi into the restaurant parking lot, though...
Typically the plan is to fly into an airport somewhere on a lazy Saturday or Sunday and grab a bite to eat near the airport (hence the term "$100 hamburger"); the challenge is finding places to eat that serve up grub worthy of the trip.
