Just got my grandfather's 1982 Martin HD-28. It's a real family heirloom. I need to get it fixed up and ready to play, but hopefully I can pass it on to my grand kids someday (but not until after I'm done playing the heck out of it, though!). Some people (like my wife) may think of it as just "another guitar" but to me it's part of my family history.

2013 Taylor 314ce
2015 Martin D-18
1982 Martin HD-28
2004 Fender Telecaster
2010 Martin X-Series

My new Taylor 712ce 12-fret finally arrived after 3 months! It was definitely worth the wait. What's more, Taylor threw in a free polo shirt as a goodwill gesture for the delivery later than originally estimated. I never even complained! 🙂

Here with my 412ce-NR...

The 712 rosewood definitely looks more pleasing aesthetically. I'm liking the sound too 🙂

My forever guitar, an 814ce DLX First Edition. Sweetwater commissioned 50 of these and I was fortunate to get my pick. I think I did well.  8)

In addition to the Series 800 Deluxe features (radial armrest, adirondack bracing, and Gotoh tuners), Sweetwater used select Honduran rosewood and the First Edition also adds a MOP headstock inlay and First Edition-badged hard case. In fact, in a nice, unexpected touch, they used Honduran rosewood for the armrest, rosette and pickguard as well.

I added one thing - fossilized walrus ivory bridge pins. They give it an old school look and really match well with the light maple binding used. (photo below)

Takamine P1NC, hand built in Japan.  Absolutely stunning workmanship with a marvelous warm tone due to the all solid wood construction, Sapele back and sides with a Cedar top. Narrow nut and 12” radius fingerboard.
