Just purchased a NOS 2013 314CE through Reverb.com. The dealer was Gerald Musique in Victoriaville, who was a real pleasure to deal with.
I have a few electrics but my only previous acoustics have been a 70's Ovation Custom Balladeer which I sold many years ago. It was a really nice sounding guitar, but I seem to recall finding the neck a little too narrow for my liking. I bought a low end Takamine 330 with solid spruce top about 15 years ago and its been ok, but I was really looking to get a high quality acoustic/electric.
I tried all the Taylors I could afford (100, 200 and 300 series) in the local stores and fell in love with the tone and feel of the 314CE, which was a little over my budget. Made a fair but low-ish offer on the one I found on Reverb and now I'm a very happy member of the Taylor community.
I love most everything about the guitar, but I must admit I am a little underwhelmed by the ES1 system. I find it hard to get a good, natural acoustic sound from it. I prefer the tone without the soundboard pickup which I have switched off, but still have a hard time getting the tone I would like using my Quilter amp. Tried a Bodyrez which helped a bit but it sounds a little artificial/processed to me.
Any suggestions regarding replacement electronics, DI/EQ or other to consider?
Thanks.
Jean
