Pleased to make your acquaitance
« on: July 04, 2016, 11:36:46 PM »
I'm an amazingly old guy from Texas who has lived in 3 of the 4 time US time zones, 11 states as an adult, and been playing guitar long enough that I should be good enough to give Jimi Hendrix lessons. But instead of getting better I was pulling out the guitar about once a month. Like...for decades. My wife got me guitar lessons a couple of years ago and I've been pretty much engaged in the playing ever since. It might be an exaggeration to call me a mediocre player but I can see mediocre clearly from where I stand. And I'm getting better. Every day.

The reason I'm here I guess is that I have now augmented my Takamine and Martin with a brand new 2012 Taylor 314ce. I say brand new because I can find no real sign on the guitar that it's not brand new. I bought it from a guy who had taken great care of it, and I hope to continue with that. The day after I bought it I woke up at 4:45 AM just because the guitar was calling me.  Having a freakin' blast with it.

Welcome to the forum VTexan.  Congratulations on the 314e find.

A miss-spelling in the title of my first post. So it goes.

Congratulations on a great guitar! Does it have a little bit of bear claw near the bridge?

Nice to have you here! ;D

No, that's actually a reflection in the finish. The wood itself is exceptionally regular. I think I would like some bear claw, but it's really quite clean.
Which kind of begs the question: is the presence of bear claw a negative to most, or (as in my mind) I would prefer to have some irregularities?
And thanks.
