This Taylor 414e is in splendid condition (nearly mint) and plays perfectly.

This is the 2015 model with gloss top, back, and sides (the gloss Ovangkol set in contrast to the white binding is stunning); and with Expression System 2 electronics. NOT the previous version with satin back and sides; and the first generation Expression System. I make it a point to mention this since there are so many pre-2015 models on the used market that don't clarify the difference.

I bought the non-cutaway model (as opposed the to the cutaway) because I found there was a discernible tonal difference between them. To my ear the voice of the non-cutaway model is fuller (i.e. broader), more resonate, and more present. I find that the lower and upper bookend the the mids with better balance on this model than the cutaway model. Granted, the nature (and degree) of the difference is subjective. But physics doesn't lie.

Why am I selling such a spectacular guitar? Listen, I'm not going to bore you with stories of my chronic GAS or details of my overpopulated guitarsinal. Well okay, I will. This was my first Taylor (aside from the GS Mini I bought for my wife). I really wanted a 714, but was initially hesitant to invest that much into a Taylor (having played mostly Martins throughout my life). So I settled for a 414 (which sounds like a ridiculous thing to say now). After a year of playing this 414e, it seems to have re-cultivated my ear to savor the "balanced" Taylor tone (imagine that), so I decided I would order a BTO Sitka/EIR with 400 Series appointments. When my local dealer called Taylor, back in February, to build a spec sheet, he was informed that "R" versions of 400's were going to be introduced as standard models later in the year. So I waited patiently, and now that I've received mine, this 414e us up for sale. But to tell the truth, whenever it pick it up, I ask myself why I can't keep both. And since Ovangkol is becoming harder to source, I fear I may end up regretting letting it go.
