don't mind me ... just waiting for an undate ;)

hey Michael

sorry for the delay, its been rushed last week and over the weekend.

the 516 came home with me, i've had some time with it and must say to date i'm quite surprised and impressed highly. what is strange is that i would have never ever thought this would could have happened due the the body size of the GS(i had wrote that size off), and the scale length(i have a left hand injury that pretty much forced me into shortscale guitars over the past 2 years).

so what i have is a wonderful guitar with an excellent sound for the type of music i play(again, i had written off taylor cedar topped guitars having experienced a couple different models and owned a GC7 for a year once).  this 516 inspires me-more than any guitar i've had in a long long time-and i have a few very nice easy playing guitars at my house.

i had planned a photo shoot over the weekend but didn't get around to it, i will be doing that hopefully this week and will post those with a more indepth report.

the setup on this 516 is the lowest i've ever experienced on an acoustic, and it doesn't buzz and plays quite easy with the medium DR Rare set i have on it.

its quite the ticket

i removed the pickguard to see how it would look-was thinking of installing a clear as there's no way that tan line will disappear, but after seeing the stock tortise it looks quite nice-picked up a replacement yesterday so i will stick tortise back on.

i always remove the neckpin as i don't use a strap ever.

Congrats, Daryl.  Absolutely beautiful woods on that guitar.

Like you, I've been playing mostly short-scale guitars because of some left-hand issues, so I'm shocked (but very happy for you) that you find this Grand Symphony easy to play.  I may have to stop ignoring them in the stores.

it takes a pick real nice. i pulled out the Golden Gate tonite and was thrilled with the smooth, thick but articulate notes i got from this thing. its a hoss!

i'm not one for strumming, but what little i did it sounded fine and didn't break up under some heavy intentional swinging-course this is not what i got it for at all so it doesn't matter.

oh yea, its light. 4.5 lbs including the ES and battery.  the lightest Taylor i've owned and if you removed the ES and battery it would weigh in around 4 lbs easy i bet-thats handbuilt territory folks.
