I've got a sitka top on my 714 LTD and just love the tone it produces.

I actually had the 314ce for a couple weeks, but I kept going back to play the spruce/rosewood combos (714 and 814).  After a 3 return visits, I knew I had to make the swap.  There is a little fret buzz that I need to get checked out, but I'm absolutely dreading having to leave the guitar at my local luthier for ANY length of time.

Also, thank you for explaining what makes up the "SD" model as I hadn't known about this before. Also, I noticed the nice green color of your rosette. You have yourself a real beauty there :)

I thought the SD was a great option.  Too bad it's not a little more widely available.  In my area it was priced smack dab in between the 814ce and 414ce Fall LTD so it was a nice compromise (especially since no one locally could tell me when or if a 414ce Fall LTD would be available).  I'm glad I didn't hold out for the 414.

You know, I didn't even pay to much attention to the green hue until I read the Rosettes 101 thread.  Then I took the pictures and it really stands out in a couple of them.  The rosette also stands out much more now that the tortoise pickguard has been replaced.

I had the chance to A/B one of these against a standard 714ce at a GC today. Although I'm a huge cedar fan, the 714ce SD won my heart today. I don't know if this will make any sense to you, but to me, it just sounded the way a guitar is supposed to sound. Again, congratulations and happy new year!

That's a good looking guitar!  I've been toying with the idea of adding a 714 to my collection, but haven't found "the one" yet.  Congrats on the new guitar.
