Must have iPad apps to use with your Taylor
« on: December 27, 2011, 10:06:50 AM »
Hi Gang,

I think it's finally time to breakdown and buy an iPad. What apps woul you consider essential for use with your guitar playing? I'm thinking in terms of songbook organization, maybe some recording and utilities similar to GuitarToolkit which I have on the iPhone.

Mods: Not sure if the is the proper place for this thread so feel free to move it if you want.

Cheers,
Mark

GuitarToolkit was just released to work on the iPad. If you already have it on the iPhone you don't have to pay for it again. I find the iPad version even more awesome. The metronome is greatly expanded, and the chord namer/finder is a delight to work with. Check it out. (I have no affiliation with the product other than as a happy user.)

I have about a dozen guitar apps on my iPad but the two I use most often are GuitarToolkit and Guitar Pro. And Guitar Pro is on sale for 99 cents through December 29.

cleartune

it's an awesome chromatic tuner! It is iPhone and iPad compatible. I use it all the time to tune to open tunings so I can play Boyce avenue songs :)

In addition to GuitarToolkit I also use Garage Band and Polytune. Polytune is an excellent tuner, well worth checking out.

Mark, keep in mind that the next version of the iPad is rumored
to be released in February.  You may want the features of the
new one, or there might be some great sale prices on the current
product prior to the release.  That's my plan....

This is a great thread, and I've gotten some very useful tools out of it.

I just wanted to get that out there before one of the moderators locks the thread.

I just downloaded cleartone and polytune and both of them simply ROCK, what fun and polytune you simply strum all of the strings at once and it picks out any strings that are off, apparently electric guitar players have this built into one of the foot audio control things but I've never known about it before - super cool.
