12 string in the GS Body style.
« on: December 12, 2011, 08:37:36 PM »
I have seen Taylor 12 strings with no cutaway (although they do come with the ES) in the GS body style. The GS5, GS6, GS8 in 12 string style. But they're not listed on the website. Are these a special order only?

hmm, that's interesting ???

i just checked their website & in the acoustic section under 12 string, only the GAs are listed &
under the acoustic electric section, there is the 656 & 856ce & the K66ce in the Koa series

i see the GS5, 6, 8 & K-12 models are listed on the latest price sheet (effective January 3rd, 2011) -
no cutaway, no electronics (although i'm sure ES could be added to any one of these models

hopefully one of the dealers here will chime in on this one -
there may be a possibility that they may have been discontinued,
but i imagine they very well still could be special ordered as a BTO

You know, that might answer my question as to why I have never seen one!

I would also love to here something about this.

The GS5-12, GS6-12, and GS8-12 are available with or without ES. They are Standard models and this will not change.....

I used to own a 655CE ...loved it!  Taylor 12s and jumbo bods are a natch together.  But that said, I have to go with the GS as my preference.  I've never heard a GS-bodied 12, so perhaps my comparo is skewed a bit, but my RT-12 is a GS body and it has all that my 655 had, and more (granted some of that "more" is likely due to other circumstances regarding build).  The GS seems to have all Jumbo "thing" covered, but with the added benefit of being more comfortable.  Were I choosing between a jumbo and GS in 6 string, for example, the the GS would get the nod.  For a 12, all else being equal, I think I'd do the same.

I bought an all mahogany 12 string GS shape from riorider(phil) on the agf. It was a custom build. Great guitar.
