Hello from SoCal!

Taylor newbie here...

Finally, I got my first Taylor! i play guitar (electric/bass) for so many years and this will be my first acoustic... I love every aspect of it and i've been playing it everyday since I got it from store

It's been great so far but I'm already thinking of upgrading the saddle (from tusq to bone) and pins (from plastic to abalone). Is it worth the upgrade?

Thanks!

Is it worth the upgrade?

You'll get both opinions here - or on any guitar forum.  Some say it makes a night-and-day difference, others cannot identify much improvement.  I fall into the "it's mostly cosmetic" camp myself.  A new saddle, nut and/or bridge pins likely won't hurt anything and is easily reversible, so go for it if you want.  BTW, which model is it?  (Never mind, I enlarged the photo and see that is a 214 DLX).
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
*Gone but not forgotten:  a 2001 414ce, 410, 354-LTD twelve string, 314-N, 416-LTD baritone, T5 Classic, 615ce, 2006 GS-K, 1996 (first year) Baby

Welcome Pepe-

Nice-looking Taylor you've got there. I encourage you to experiment with saddle and bridge pin materials. I've done it on all my Taylors with satisfying audio and visual results.
My Taylor Grand Auditoriums:

1997 Cujo14 - old growth cedar/black walnut
2014 K24e - master grade koa
2018 Custom GA - bear claw sitka spruce/mahogany
2019 614 - torrified sitka spruce/flamed maple
2020 714 - lutz spruce/rosewood

Yes the pins is only for the aesthetics. But from what I read, the bone saddle creates more bass for taylor... it's all about that bass :)

Thank you for your input.

Welcome from across the border in SoAz. Part of the fun of acoustic guitar is playing around with upgrades. Saddles, pins, trying different string brands/gauges, tuners, truss rod covers, and, well, thats about it. WARNING! You now will find any excuses to pop into stores with new Taylor's on the wall.
