i posted this elsewhere, primarily because i thought that there may have been a greater number of folks
that may have met pete a little over 12 years ago, but apparently they've moved on or are no longer around -
pete did the inlays for the gallery series (LJ, GW, ST) in 00, liberty tree guitar 02, as well
as the hot rod in 03, along with the running horses, pelican, JDCM & RFSM (i believe)

hopefully he was enjoying where he was & what he was doing -
R.I.P. pete :(

I wonder if Pete did the inlay for the forklift on the pallet guitar?  Pete did some really nice inlay.  I am sure there are a few people around here that have his handy work.  Strumming Fool comes to mind that might have the Gold Fish and I am pretty sure some one here has a Liberty Tree.

Did see that.  Never owned one of his inlaid guitars, but always admired his work.  In fact, just glanced at the cover of American Forests that has Bob Taylor holding a Liberty Tree guitar on the cover.

I wonder if Pete did the inlay for the forklift on the pallet guitar...?

The 2014 Spring/Summer issue of Wood & Steel implies that Larry Breedlove did that one (see pp. 16-17).

.. I am pretty sure some one here has a Liberty Tree.

Yup...! ;)

If you get a chance, maybe you could show it off to us here at UTGF,  I am sure every one would love to see it.

Here you go; I posted some photos in a thread that was started about the Liberty Tree Guitars around July 4th.

Nice Timfitz63.  For me that is one of the best special guitar runs that Taylor has done, they were very lucky to have that tree to make some memorable guitars.  Wish I could find a T5 with my state name on it, I understand they are hard to find now.

Thanks!  I was intrigued by the story behind the wood as well, and was lucky to find the one I have NOS -- 12 years after it was issued...!

I'd also like to find one of the T5's; my native Pennsylvania would be my first choice, but I can see Maryland being a desireable one as well, given that it was the state that supplied the wood for the guitars.

The Liberty Tree T5's are definitely rare beasts on the open market; and their owners are sure proud of them when pricing them... Case in point, Alaska (#49) is still up for grabs... :o

No, I just own one of 63 Pelicans. I don't believe that Pete was involved with the Cujo 14 design (I also own #42 of 125). His work remains a beautiful legacy.
My Taylor Grand Auditoriums:

1997 Cujo14 - old growth cedar/black walnut
2014 K24e - master grade koa
2018 Custom GA - bear claw sitka spruce/mahogany
2019 614 - torrified sitka spruce/flamed maple
2020 714 - lutz spruce/rosewood

the gallery series was from 00-01, the liberty tree X12 in 02 &
the running horses, pelican, hotrod, JDCM & RFSM done in 03 -
the original pallet guitar was made in 95, with more examples made after (00 ?) &
the cujo 10/14s were done in 97, so i imagine pete jr was not quite in there for those
