NGD...GSM Mini Hog
« on: July 11, 2014, 05:00:25 PM »
After waiting longer than I wanted...here is my new Mini hog. When I went to pick it up there were two other Sitka tops to choose from and the other mahogany that was there 3 weeks ago. The other hog was still not for me but one of the two Sitka tops resonated really well and sounded as good as the one I left with. It was a little brighter but I preferred the warmer tone and looks of the hog better so it came home with me.

Edited with pictures taken with a better camera than what an iPad can offer.

Nice looking mini. You will find yourself playing it a lot. Mine get quite a bit of my time. Enjoy it!

Thanks to all of you for commenting. If I understand the SN#'s correctly this one was built in September 2013, so it has been around somewhere - I just have never seen it at this GC before and they were selling it as new. The sticker from the pick guard which is usually there telling what strings are on it was gone.  There is some discoloration on the strings which do not feel like Elixirs to me but definitely don't sound dead yet. Not sure what to make of all that, but it sounds great to me. I haven't had much time to devote to it yet, but intend to spend some quality time with it over the next few days.

That is a really pretty guitar. I like the front, to my eyes (keep in mind that I am color blind) the wood looks like sun rays. Very nice. I got my Mini GS today too! The guy with a brown truck.... at least I think it is brown...  :-\, anyway the UPS guy delivered it this afternoon. I love it and it sounds as great as everyone says they do.

Congrats on your purchase.

Toj,

I will try to post pictures later today. I got out of work late an went out last night for dinner. Back to work this morning.  :'(

I have to say that you hog, mini is the nicest looking on that so have seen so far. The 3 or so that I have seen in stores were very plain. I do wood working for a living an I appreciate pretty grain in wood.
