wait..Wait...WAIT.... Mini H.V.
« on: July 02, 2014, 12:00:11 PM »
Never know what to write when I do a post. So here go's.
Being a big Taylor fan am consumed by Taylor Guitars and there Marketing,  They did it again!
I've been watching the GS Mini since it's inception, It took me a long time to try one, and all the good talk of them
now agree with, they sound good ! So the years went by(and alot of other Taylors) then this.
An Engelmann topped Mini GS nice!, I love engelmann, and I like maple.
Wala... the Holden Village GS Mini was the one I jumped on, The whole story behind It's becoming , is a noteworthy
woodsmans and humanitarian effort, was very appealing.
I am please to have a Mini now and am just floored by it's tone.
I've had a few Taylor maples, Taylor just knows how to do maple .
This special Fiddle Back stock that Pacific Rim Tonewoods donated to the effort is just stunning  :)
The pick guards coming off,(It's off now)  I just want the full effect of the engelmann wood to move at free will.
Never took so many pictures of any guitar before, just couldn't help my self ! So as usuall the new guitar gets played and
the others sit, this will probable see more action beacuse of its ecomnic status. Born on date: 06/09/2014
I'm very pleased with the Mini I recieved, Nice Job Taylors Guitars !

Great pictures. I love everything about your new mini.....she's looks very nice!
I just love the fact that all us folks are having fun with these mini's (whatever the flavor).
I wonder if even Taylor expected this sort of success when they introduced them.

Beauty! Love the dark stripes on the top.

You've removed the pickguard already? I am wondering about that, too. The corner of the pickguard, closest to the neck, seems sharp to me. It's not lifting off, but seems like it almost could, if I caught it with a finger or sleeve. I'm not a pickguard fan anyway. Hmmmm.

If you think of it, post another pic, sans pickguard.

Thanks for posting the pictures! I now have one on order too. Can't wait to see it.

Could you post the pictures of your HV without the pick guard?

Thanks everybody for the nice coments. Pick guard is off yes. only took about 15 minutes and not one bit if adhisive remained.  Zero tan lines beacuse it had only be there for what 3 weeks since it was place on at factory, here's what the engelmann top looks like now with out it. This top is virgin, nary seen the light of day yet, I can see the glow in it that will come out . I'm really liking it's power for a small guitar, So pure... tipical Engelmann, Wonderful " Real. Small. Taylor. "

Very sharp looking guitar. If it plays half as good as it looks it would be a keeper!

Thanks for posting the second batch of pictures.

Jay

P.S. Just located this youtube video of a Holden Village being played.

Sounds nice to me.

Man, every HV I've seen so far has stellar b/s.  But your top is one of the nicest HVs I've seen to date.  Congrats!

Nice, got my HV Mini out today and played it a bot.  It's been neglected lately in favor of my mandolin.  It was in tune and sounded great.

Hey 129Jayman
I had many engelmann's , I have had none darken on mine.  I've experenced 2 kinds of engelmann , one is a creamy white, and other is kinda very light amber yellow. When they get old and have been around a while they still aren't anywhere as dark as sitka spruce will get.  The good stuff just stays creamy and or go's to a light golden, not burnt dark orange.

It looks so "Classical" without the plastic pick guard. Now I'm thinking I might remove mine also. Hmmmm.
