150e Dread 12-String
« on: June 12, 2014, 01:59:12 PM »
So, has anyone had a chance to try out one of the new 150e's? I really think it's going to be a great seller for Taylor. Taylor 12-strings play like butter. I had a 355, but the jumbo body was hard to play for long periods....my husband thinks I'd like the DN a lot better. I'm not a strummer very often, but..... ::)

I haven't played the 150 specifically, but I've played dreadnought 12-string guitars.  Yes, I do find them more comfortable than jumbos, but I find the GS much more comfortable than dreadnoughts.

And I agree that the 150 will likely be a big seller, but since about 95% of my playing is done sitting down, I'd much rather have seen the 150 in a GS size.

I don't think Taylor makes a 116 (GS) model, do they?  Probably why they chose the dred body.  It's interesting that Taylor chose the 100 series to launch the first dred 12 string they've made in 18 years (except for the BTO program I imagine)! I truly hope the model does well.

Taylor does not make a 116, nor do they make a 156, but I wish they did it would be fun.  I bitting at the bit to try one of the 150 s.  As far as I know nobody around my neck of the woods is carrying one yet.

My local store (Elderly Instruments) has them on order....expected arrival date 6/13. I will be going there to look at other stuff, will try to check it out and give it a whirl (if they aren't sold before I get there).

It just so happens that my local guitar store had just received one and I tried it out today.
This is a fantastic sounding 12 string guitar with the usual Taylor playability and quality!!
It sounds great acoustically and plugged in (it has the ES1, V3 instead of the ES-T).
It followed me home today! ;)
I posted a NGD on AGF, but unfortunately, the images didn't come through....not sure why.
Anyway, this is an incredible 12 string guitar at a fantastic price! ;D
Definitely worth checking out....

Susie, I assume your husband has started construction on a second guitar cabinet? ;)

Not yet. A couple smaller instruments were evicted from it....then with some creativity everything else still fits.
