it all depends -
different builders have access to & stock varying degrees of figured woods

i'd say it's comparable to an A+, nice but likely not an upcharge grade wood from tacoma

some builders run across some highly figured stuff, just on the sheer volume
that they go through & the flamed mahogany back on this one would probably
command an upcharge of some sort, or be used on a LTD model or something

it's all about why you play ...

I think the great thing about Koa is the sheer unpredictability of patterns nature can produce. Unlike flamed maple, where tighter flame is necessarily better, AA Koa, for example, can be flamed, rippled, curly, grafted, etc. I guess Taylor's stash of Koa is like a "box of chocolates", you never know what you're going to get... :)

Speaking of patterns, I'd like to call this particular pattern the "Shroud":

2014 Taylor BTO All-Koa GC - "Blackacre"
2014 Taylor 312CE - "Barnie"

I love the sound of my K10 in my signature.  I just wish it had a wider nut.  If it did I'd hang on to it.
