BTW, madi is one of those species I've never played.  How would you compare its voice to rw/spruce?

I think Madagascar i nice because it has more bass than Cocobolo, yet has the same non scooped mid range of Cocobolo.  That is the way I hear it.

i would slot madi between eirw & cocobolo -
a bit more depth than coco & less midrange compression than eirw

it's a great sounding & looking tonewood, imho -
it's a shame that stuff like this happens, though
