Yes, this particular set was the amp.  I suppose the ukulele ones were more attractive (just guessing here) BC of Andy Powers.

Either that, or it just made more sense to stringed-instrument consumers to acquire a special-issue ukulele (rather than an amplifier) from a premium guitar manufacturer...

I do wonder how these sets went over.  One shop had one for quite a long time and as far as I know it's still there.

If I had unlimited money I might consider one but for that much dough I'd do a custom build.....maybe several..... ;D
the IV doesn't show to be available at a US dealer
http://www.taylorguitars.com/guitars/builders-reserve/dealers

the amp tied into the aesthetics/woods of the guitars offered, but there's only a gain control &
if the pre-amp was "voiced" for the body/neck sensor ES, i wonder how they'll do with the ES2 ???

since the ukes were hand-made & Andy Powers was greatly involved in the design process, along with the uke's
popularity in general, they probably had more appeal & the koa GS/uke set seems to have the most "takers"

The ukes looked great!  I have a high end kamaka but if Taylor issued one I'd definitely check it out.

The VII reserve set is stunning. Wish I had that guitar!

Like someone mentioned, a guitar/mandolin combo in the future would be rad.

the br I & II are not on the current site, maybe partially because they're not pairs of anything, one of the models is
currently on hiatus (sb) & the design for the LTG t5 aesthetics was mainly from pre Andy Powers era Taylor employees -
some of the stuff has to be dug pretty deep to find it

Did Taylor originally consider the Bastogne Walnut Solid Body and Liberty Tree T5 part of the Builder's Reserve series?  Or was that a moniker that was retroactively applied to them because of their limited numbers?  Or a little of both, since they started the more recent Builder's Reserve pairings with "III"?  Seems to me that neither of those issues were initially referred to as "Builder's Reserve" guitars...

the bastogne walnut was the original builders reserve, followed by the t5 LTG -
it has an inlaid pearl (MOP, not pearloid) pickguard & the builder's reserve designation is stitched into the case lining, so
no "retro" anything, just a bit of time passed between series  II & III, as R Taylor was still active when I & II were made

this pic is a little jacked, thanks to the previous HD failure, but ...

Sweet water just dropped their price on a VII set--the mahogany sunburst 12 fret guitar and uke. The lowest price I've seen.

Evidently that set has been sold. Did anyone here buy it?
