i have a K10ce that i'm not particularly fond of. because of it's excessive sparkle, i tend to keep it a half step down.
it's finally starting to open up a bit, and i touch it more and more.

My only Koa experience was a 2007 GA-K which I have since sold long ago (mistake). Judging from the comments here I was fortunate to find a excellent sounding guitar. Wish I still had her. It was early in my experience with high-end guitars and I didn't know what I had. But I'm glad for having had the experience.

My thought is that a spruce topped koa bodied guitar is probably less likely to be a dud, percentage wise.  But the big appeal for many is the stunning visual beauty of a koa top.  And those can vary quite a bit tonally.  Of the two hat I own, the GS with the spruce top is a little better, but costs considerably more than the GA size 424 LTD did, so I would expect more.  Both are quite nice, but in a photo, the all-koa one wins.
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
*Gone but not forgotten:  a 2001 414ce, 410, 354-LTD twelve string, 314-N, 416-LTD baritone, T5 Classic, 615ce, 2006 GS-K, 1996 (first year) Baby

Had a 2011 GS and wish I still had it.  It was sweet!
