Oh yeah, they're inside my head. It's not the voices (this time)... it's the ads. I get on a boat forum, and there they are. Switch to an RV owners forum - yep, they know. You would think it would be boat or RV ads. It's not.
OK, so I looked at an absolutely breath-taking K22ce at the Road Show we went to last month. It
really was nice. The price seemed a bit steep, but the Blonde said, "Just get it - if you don't, you'll regret it."
I didn't get it. No regrets, really. I did check a couple other guitar shops on-line to see if the price was reasonable. You know, just as a comparison. Oh, it was a bit higher, but it had AA koa top and the Gotoh tuners. But, no regrets. Really.
But now the ads... they
know. They tease me... "Hey, look at this K22!" "No, no - check out
this one!"
What they don't get: I
like the ads. Looking at guitars (for me) is like looking at boats... or pretty women. Well, except I have the boat I want. Probably the right wife, too... although she does occasionally say, "You can do that with your next wife..." when I suggest another sailboat. But, I digress.
Oh sure, I could clear my cache or click something to eliminate the ads. But, I find it kinda fascinating - even places whose sites I don't recall seeing think I should check out their K22. I think the next step in this focused advertising should be having the different dealers down bid the price... kinda the opposite of checking an airfare, then when you go back to book it, it has gone up.
OMG, I hope I haven't given these dealers something to collude on!!
Before we retired, I was a business owner. I like marketing.
Best wishes,
Jim
