Finish cracks from shipping?
« on: April 06, 2014, 07:10:27 PM »
Question-- is it possible to have a crack on each side of the guitar about a 1/4" inside the edge, on the guitar top along the curve of the body (between sound hole & edge of guitar) about 2" long, that would happen from shipping?  It looks like it is not in the wood because it doesn't run with the wood grain. I just received my 414 ce back from Taylor after upgrading the ex system to 9 volt.  It is possible I hadn't noticed these two cracks before... Because I didn't look it over that carefully before. Thanks for any input!!!!

It would be very surprising if Taylor took on the repair without advising you of a pre-existing condition, so it's likely that the cracking occured during handling or shipping.

Happened twice to me, not on Taylors though.

Great.... Ok   Thank you. Did you get them repaired or make the shippers cover it? Trying to figure out how the finish would crack & not the wood.... But I guess it doesn't matter how-- since it is.
