Help me figure out what i am looking for
« on: March 29, 2014, 02:43:12 PM »
At some point in the past Taylor did a run of Limiteds that were Maple bodies with wood binding(as opposed to the white plastic usually on Maple Taylors). I believe the rosette was the leaf pattern but i may be mistaken on this point. Can anyone here tell me what model i am thinking of and maybe direct  me to one that might be for sale?  Thanks in advance,Mike Sellers

i think you may be looking for a 09 fall GAceLTD-M
http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=290302
or a GSceLTD-M

i'm not sure where to find one right now, but it's easier to find the 12 fall euro spruce
quilted sapele models with adi CV, bone nut & saddle & gotohs, but the binding is ivoroid -
some of the figuring on these models can resemble quilted maple a good bit

I thought it was an anniversary model ... Boys of the Fall or something ... That had the leaves for the rosette.
Blackbird, Froggy Bottom, Gibson, Goodall, Hatcher,
Kanile'a, Kinnard, Kwasnycia, Martin, Rainsong,
Ryan, Santa Cruz, Taylor, Voyage Air, Weber

i think that was the 04 6XXce L30 30th anniversary commemorative model

that one has white plastic binding, but there were 600LTDs in 02 (some with no e) with rosewood binding, cocobolo
headstock & bridge, 03 600 SPEC "summer strummer" & L3 models with ab tops, snowflakes inlays, rosewood binding
coco headstock & miniwedge, 03 9XX L2s with original 900 series inlays (some had Cindy) & rosewood binding & the
fall 04 L7s, mentioned in another thread, with cocobolo rosette & top purfling, koa binding & miniwedge, but these
will have 2AA ES, fingerjoint headstock & non-forward shifted bracing, unless it's a X10, X15, or a late fall 04, which
will have the standard II forward shifted bracing with relief rout, with mid 03s switch from grover to Taylor tuners

What a marvellous rosette is that!! I'm not sure whether I would be able to resist the temptation if I'd came across such a beauty.
