Just wanted to share my story with some people who may appreciate. This guitar I feel was meant to end up in my lap and its serial number has meaning and significance that made me feel that this way. February 13th is my Taylor's birth-date, 2- my second 'real' guitar,13- my favorite number (may be weird to some). It was also the 88th of its kind Taylor started that day, 88 was my number in high school football (kinda a big deal in the south). 2-13-88, 2-8, my 28th birthday. Its just kinda weird to me that it all connects. Any-who, beyond the serial number, the actual guitar....
This is my first Taylor and living on a limited budget couldn't go all in on a 816ce. I just simply don't have or make that kind of money. Alas, I've saved and finally gotten to the point where I'm ready to take the plunge. I've loved the 300 series for a few years, it's within my budget and sounded great, but my local store didn't have any 400s and I was determined to at least A/B. So after speaking with my local shop and making them aware I'm now serious and no longer the guy coming in to just drool and "stairway" here and there. My shop made a call to Taylor since they had a Road Show coming to town today (March 25th) and requested they send a 400 series along so that I could try it out. Sure enough I got the call on my birthday while on my lunch break ( I'm sure most of you can imagine how productive I was that afternoon). After work I drove to the shop, at a safe legal speed of course, to ensure I had time to play it before they closed. It was a very easy choice for me after playing to bring home the 416ce- SLTD. This may not have much over another 416ce but the gloss really makes the wood pop and the enlarged dots are sick! And since I would have been happy with a standard 416ce I feel pretty good about the free upgrade. I haven't had a chance to plug in the new es2 but ill be doing that tomorrow at band practice!
Hope you enjoy the pics!
