A Rather Curious GS Mini Observation
« on: March 24, 2014, 09:07:34 AM »
As of this morning, Monday 03/24, and in searching only the used category, there are five left hand GS Mini's listed for sale on evilbay as compared to four right hand models.
Hmmmmm.......
Now to me this could mean two things....... There are either a heck of a lot more lefties out there than we realize or the Mini is not as coveted by the left handed players as the right.
Again, not a scientific study, just a curious observation.

DISCLAIMER......THIS INFORMATION HAS BEEN POSTED AS A HUMOROUS OBSERVATION ONLY AND REFLECTS NO FAVOR OF EITHER DEXTERITY BY THE NON LEFTY-PHOBIC POSTER, WHO IN FACT HAS MANY FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS WHO ARE LEFTIES.

Mom always said to be nice to the Lefties.
Hey..... Why dosen't anyone make left handed watches?? It has to be terribly awkward, if not down right impossible to wind or set a watch while it is on the right wrist!

At the risk of serious thread drift (probably too late already) I have always wondered why the standard playing position is referred to as "right handed".  The standard RH position makes me use my weaker left hand to do the more critical fretting tasks, and the strong right hand for the coarser task of strumming.

Captain Jim, wouldn't that come from over the port side rail rather than out of left field?     ;)
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
*Gone but not forgotten:  a 2001 414ce, 410, 354-LTD twelve string, 314-N, 416-LTD baritone, T5 Classic, 615ce, 2006 GS-K, 1996 (first year) Baby

Because you can fret all you like, but it isn't playing until you engage the guitar with your right hand.  Or maybe because most Guitar Centers are on the right-hand side of the road.  ;D

Depends on what direction you're facing!!   ;D ;D 8)  For those who are not mariners, that is a joke.   ;D  There is a reason for port and starboard on a boat, instead of left and right.  One one scenic cruise boat I used to drive, we would have a NPS Ranger give a talk... this young lady would always say, "On the right you will see..." when she was at the front of the cabin, facing back, towards the people.

"That's your right, miss - their left.  That's why we use port and starboard onboard a boat."

"But doesn't that differ depending which direction you are facing?" she asked.

Here's your sign.   8)

it's my understanding that the guitar was first made by a lefty... he designed it this way so that he could use his dominant left hand to do the more intricate fretting..... apparently, we all play it backwards !

I was surprised to see the Ayn Rand reference in Paul Simon’s song so I looked up the lyrics:

"A Simple Desultory Philippic"

I been Norman Mailered, Maxwell Taylored
I been John O'Hara'd, McNamara'd
I been Rolling Stoned and Beatled 'til I'm blind
I been Ayn Randed, nearly branded
A Communist, 'cause I'm left-handed
That's the hand I use, well, never mind

I been Phil Spectored, resurrected
I been Lou Adlered, Barry Sadlered
Well, I paid all the dues I want to pay
And I learned the truth from Lenny Bruce
And of all my wealth won't buy me health
So I smoke a pint of tea a day

I knew a man his brain so small
He couldn't think of nothin' at all
He's not the same as you and me
He doesn't dig poetry, he's so unhip that
When you say Dylan, he thinks you're talkin' about Dylan Thomas
Whoever he is
The man ain't got no culture
But its alright, Ma, everybody must get stoned

I been Mick Jaggered, silver daggered
Andy Warhol, won't you please come home?
I been mothered, fathered, aunt and uncled
Been Roy Haleed and Art Garfunkeled
I just discovered somebody's tapped my phone

Folk rock

I lost my harmonica, Albert

Is Paul Simon left handed?  ???

Maybe it's Art Garfunkel who is.

I'm left-handed. You learn to adapt in a right-handed world. :) The Watch Thing: I wear my watch on my right wrist. I like the screw and feature buttons facing me. 1. Because of my job. 2. Because I'm left-handed and can easily manage the functions. If all else fails, reverse the strap(s). ;D

Scissors. Now that's another story for another day. :)
