Elderly started as a vintage instrument dealer primarily. Hence the name. They have been doing so for 42 years. They know their stuff and how to deal with people.

I agree with the others - I've been a customer of Elderly for years and have received only top shelf service and support.  I've purchased everything from high end Martins and Taylors to cheap Blueridge guitars.  There have also been many times when I've walked into their store (which is very cool in an eclectic old school way, BTW), spent two hours + playing everything in the high end room, stumbling through the miscellaneous room to strum a banjo or mando, and finally walking out with only a CD or a book.  The staff is always gracious and more than willing to answer questions or just let you browse, regardless of how much you spend.

You are so right, Gutch....spot on, actually. BTW, the current building is an old IOOF Hall (Independent Order of Odd Fellows), which provides a perfect atmosphere for the business. It was built around 1915. They moved in there in 1984. Prior to that, they were located in East Lansing across from Michigan State (my Alma Mater and 2014 Rose Bowl Champions, btw!).

Wow…there are a lot of Elderly fans here.  I wish I could I could go check out the store,  but unfortunately I live 1200 miles away.

MGAP,

I have been to Gryphon (NorCal), the old Buffalo Bros and McCabes (SoCal), Denver Folklore Society, and Dusty Strings (Seattle)  A trip to Elderly meets or surpasses any of them.  Talk about a candy store for musicians........

If I ever travel back east again, I hope to hit Mandolin Bros on Staten Island and maybe Gruhn's in Nashville to round out the collection.

Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
*Gone but not forgotten:  a 2001 414ce, 410, 354-LTD twelve string, 314-N, 416-LTD baritone, T5 Classic, 615ce, 2006 GS-K, 1996 (first year) Baby

sounds pretty good :)

save for trying to put together a "TaylorStock" style gathering, maybe not an entire
weekend, but a slightly extended tour & then hitting the woodpile to spec Customs,
which purchase arrangements could be made through one's dealer of choice 8) , perhaps
an event either in a more central geographical location or one that's closest to the
greatest number of UTGF members that would be available to participate on a given date -

tarpley's in amarillo is about the closest to the middle of the country that i can think of

A forum gathering seems like a fun idea; to attend one, I'd do Amarillo for sure -- but I'm only a 6.5-hour drive from there...  Less than three hours if I can fly myself up to Tradewind Airport (within a few miles of Tarpley's) and cajole someone into shuttling me over to the store...

But wouldn't someplace in Kansas be more geographically central to the country...?  Granted, I have no idea where most of the folks on this forum live...

If we really wanted to do a forum gathering right, we should meet up at the Taylor factory...  'Course, that's a real hike for folks in the eastern part of the country...  But maybe with enough advance notice, they'd give a Taylor forum group a bit of VIP treatment, and it'd be worth the trip...?

here's a couple of promising locations in kansas -
mass street
http://massstreetmusic.com/collections/acoustic-guitars/taylor

or senseney
http://senseneymusic.com/combo.asp

it may look like a shorter distance, as the crow flys, but from say northern california,
(healdsburg area) it's just under 1,400 mi to amarillo & about 1700 to wichita

besides, there's a pretty 8) place to get grub in amarillo ;)
http://bigtexan.com/

not one, but 2 ... in 15 minutes (first steak gone in under 3 1/2 minutes) :o

Not trying to talk anyone out of Amarillo; as 'central' gathering spots go, that one is pretty convenient for me...  I lived in Lawrence, KS for about 7 years, so I'm familiar with, and have friends still in, that area.  Only been to Wichita sporadically, but also have friends there.  So those places, although farther to travel, wouldn't be bad from my standpoint either...

Yeah, I heard about that gal; can't view the video at the moment, but apparently she's not very big either...  Those food challenges are all fun -- to watch; I prefer to enjoy my meal without wolfing it down...  It all sounds good to me, though!

probably the thing to do, if the idea of having a gathering becomes more definite, & the planning
begins, is to find out where it would be the most convenient for the greatest number of participants -
the geographic "center" may or may not be the best choice, other than being of "equal inconvenience" for all ;)

This would be pretty awesome. Maybe people could play some of the jewels you all have. Then there's this:

Most number of Taylor guitars played at the same time = Guiness record  8)
