Went to the road show last night in Tucson. A lot of time is spent on the new 800's. They had all 5 body shapes and they used them to demo the sound differences between shapes. They go over all the changes, and there was a hint that the design changes will eventually spread to the other series.
They had 3 spring ltd's. A 412ce, 416ce, and the 300 series baritone. The 400's are really nice looking with the gloss finish and gold tuners. Compared the 412 to an older satin one in the store. Liked the sound of the satin one a little better. It has been in the store a while and played a bit. The new one was fresh from the factory and just out of the box.
The baritone was a nice surprise. Sounded great in the hands of the Taylor player, and it was one of the favorites of the people attending.
They played a few customs and the show stoppers were a K26, and a maple GC with a special finish that adds approx. what a 200 series cost, to the final price. Both guitars sounded awesome. The maple GC sounded like no other maple I've ever heard. Even though the top was spruce, it was warm like cedar or redwood.
