ARRIVED (almost) -- 812ce 12-Fret First Edition
« on: March 12, 2014, 03:43:24 PM »
Just sharing with my Taylor Brethren (and Sistren):

A Taylor 12-fret has been on my wishlist for a few years now ... up until now for one reason or another, I haven't been able to work out a purchase ... however, a few days ago I went to my local shop to hopefully see an 812ce 12-Fret First Edition listed on their website only to find out that they have had 2 of these so far and neither lasted more than 3 days at the shop.  So much for being there on day 4 ...

Anyway they have one more of these slated to arrive in a few weeks ... I mulled it over for a while, played a 712ce 12-fret they currently had in stock and then decided to finally pull the trigger ... I put down a deposit to reserve the incoming 812ce (with option to turn it down if for any reason it doesn't work for me) ...

So here's hoping this is the 12-fret for me ... the demos and pictures all seem sweet from a long-time fingerpicker's perspective ... now I must decide if I need to sell one of my other acoustics ... that might just be the hardest part of this transaction ...  8)

Scriptor, I know you've been drooling for a 12 fret for some time now. I'm happy to hear that you are close to making it happen. It sounds like the perfect guitar for you. Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks TaylorGirl (and everyone) ... last word is that it should be here in about 6 weeks ... I'm pretty busy with several music projects right now so this should make the waiting not so difficult ...  8)

Great choice!  Hope the time between now and arrival passes quickly for you.  I am a big fan of the Taylor GC 12-frets, and your choice sounds like "the one."  I'll be looking forward to your review when it arrives.

Best wishes,
Jim

Got a call today from the shop ... the 812ce 12-Fret First Edition is in ... I plan to pick it up tomorrow ... the rep at the shop said I was in for a treat ... he's pretty good at assessing these things and he knows how I play but we'll see ... here's hoping it is all that and a bag of chips ...  8) ... should be just in time for my next fingerstyle solo for the offertory at a local church this Sunday ... not sure yet whether I'll try and play it or go with the trusty 814ce ... I play up the neck on the piece and I am not yet sure if it will fly on the 12-Fret but it should be doable with the cutaway ... NGD tomorrow, Lord willing ... !!!!

Color me with envy!  12 frets are something I've been meaning to try one of these days too.  Please share any immediate impressions you have about it.  I'm not the only one who would love to know what you think of it!  Cheers.
