So it looks like these are nearing completion. Take a look at one out in the wild

I was kinda considering one early on until I saw the inlay. Not my kind of thing. I think some of the early prototypes had the regular inlays.

I really like the inlay!.....I have been following the Holden Mini on the AGF and Interestingly enough there has been less written here than there. From the pictures I have seen it is indeed a very special little guitar and I am very anxious to get my hands on mine.

Some while back it was stated that Taylor would begin invoicing for the pre-orders the third week of January and start shipping in early February. Personally I have not received an invoice as of yet. Has anyone seen any recent updates in regard to the invoicing / shipping schedule?

Taylor is to start offering it on their web site and dealers are to get involved as well so I would imagine they will have no problem finding homes for these guitars. The Holden is a lot more guitar than the standard Mini and at the price it is going for it is a true bargain. If there is ever going to be a true collectable GS Mini, this is it!

For those who haven't seen it I would highly recommend you do so!

This was an early prototype -- looks killer with the simple fretboard inlay and no pickguard. I'd have seriously considered getting one of these.

Just another reason I love the Taylor brand. Holden Village is a Lutheran Bible camp for disadvantaged children, located near Lake Chelan in the north Cascades (Washington). I undestood it was a former mining camp, and some of the wood for these unique instruments is coming from that area as a result of (their) clean-up efforts. Winners find a way.

For those interested, just picked up a copy of The Holden Village Voice (Winter 2014). Page 9 has a nice write-up regarding the project. Quote: "Engelmann Spruce logged as a part of the Holden Mine remediation are being used by Taylor Guitars to make a limited number of guitars. Taylor is donating proceeds to benefit two non-profits that work in partnership with local residents to provide clean water systems." Thus the "Holden Guitar" was created. Gotta Luv these guys! If I can sneak it past the wife, my home studio may receive a new addition.

Apologies are in order for being annoying. I just checked the link in the original post, and I see the folks at Holden Village already provided a detailed explanation of the project and proceeds. Sorry!

When you receive your Holden Mini, I'd be very interested in hearing how you think it compares to your other Minis soundwise. I imagine it would slot between the hog and the sitka: not as warm as the hog but not as bright as the sitka.

Enjoy!

ya know, i hadn't considered that. i get so fixated in "the back and side veneers will offer no appreciable difference in tone" that i hadn't put a whole lot of thought into the top !!!!!

apparently, there is no need to wait for holden village to send you a responding e-mail. it's just a link to taylor to make the actual purchase. just got off the phone with jonathon at taylor and my new mini is shipping out today. so calling your order in isn't really jumping the line. they are being sold thru taylorware anyway.

I received my email notification Wednesday; since I have a mini hog, I am waiting to hear from you guys about the tone;-) I know it looks incredible! Someone on AGF was expecting one in hand a few days ago, so you super early adopters should be in soon. Can't wait to hear about it.
