« on: November 24, 2013, 11:38:12 PM »
CodeBlue called it Guitar Aquisition Syndrome.....so that's what ales me. While shopping for my new 514e-FLTD (love it) I kept running into those minis EVERYWHERE.....do believe I'll be strummin' on one of those mini e hogs right after Thanksgiving.....going out of state for turkey day with family, great company and great food..........I'll check in with you all when the Hog arrives.         PS I'm taking along GAS pills!

GAS is a real thing.  It is highly contagious and spread through contact with this forum.  Symptoms will include widening of the eyes, elevated pulse, a flushed feeling, and (in advanced cases) drooling... especially when viewing images featured here.

While GAS can go into remission, usually following a large dose of Mastercard, Visa, Discover, or American Express, once acquired, GAS is a life-long affliction.  Some people have been able to stem some of the affects of GAS by trying new strings (Elixir, d'Addario, and similar), an application of pedal, or even the use of amplification.  Please note that none of these are a cure.

Understand that you are not alone.  Family members and friends may be frightened by this change in your behavior and say things like, "Another guitar?  Why do you need another guitar?"... or, "Dude, seriously?  You have like 12 guitars already!"... or even take it to the extreme with threats like, "If you bring home another guitar, I am leaving!"  Sad, but the only logical response to these ridiculous statements is, "If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand."

Fortunately, there is a support group for this affliction, and you have found it right here with this forum.  We understand and accept.  No judgement, no snide remarks.

Check with your trusted guitar dealer to see if a new Taylor is right for you.

I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV.  But, I do play a Taylor.  Several, in fact.   8)

The shirt in the above photo was won in a drawing from Acoustic Pro Musician... it reads, "Yes, Honey, it's another guitar!"

PS  There is a difference between what "ales" you and what "ails" you.  Application of ale will not help the ailment.  ;D

Many of us here have the same condition!
I am also suffering from a GAS side effect.....it's called DAD (dulcimer acquisition disease).
So don't feel bad. ;)

Congrats on your GSM Hog.....hopefully your holidays go by quickly (and safely).

TaylorGirl.....sorry to hear about your DAD......I understand, no cure, but treatable, so I believe everything will work out.....

You're right, may the trip go quickly, I delayed the shipment so it wouldn't come while out of town, so definately something to look forward to.
May you and your family have a good Thanksgiving! I picture your get togethers as a little on the "musical" side!

Ah, my mistake!  ???  T-Shirts can be versatile, too.   ;)  And, you don't need to change the strings on 'em.   ;D  Guess you can see where my head is, huh?  Must be some GAS going around?  8)
