Just finished paying for this one today and it is now on its way.  Personally, I looked at many pictures online and I think this has some of the nicest figuring and coloring I have seen, period!  Brian at the store said the coloring is unbelievable.  Great dealer to work with too BTW!

Also I spoke to Taylor today, they said that they did indeed run out of the Congo Ebony.  They projected to make 300 total guitars between the two models (150 - 614's and 150 - 616's).  Taylor procured a single tree but ended up not having enough for 300 guitars.  So the remaining being built are indeed Macassar ebony and not the Congo Ebony.

The Taylor sales person told me that the Congo ebony one is what they typically make fret boards and bridges out of.  That it is more rare to see a guitar with back and sides of this wood than Macassar.  Mine is the Congo Ebony.

Man I cannot wait to see this one in person! 8) 8) 8)

I've played that guitar over at brians and it is a smokin guitar indeed. Brian is also a great guy to deal with. Glad someone on the board got it. Enjoy I'm sure you will absolutely love it!

Beautiful guitar! I haven't had a chance to play or hear one of these yet, but I'm guessing that it sounds amazing! :)

These ARE both beautiful instruments, guys.  Congratulations!

Here's a general comment, a pet peeve I have with Taylor.  They need to do a better job of matching their truss rod cover colors to the headstock.  My 314ce came with a TRC that, when hit by a certain light, looks milky and faded.  I replaced it with a MOP-inlaid ebony one to match the fretboard.  Shouldn't have to do this on a "quality guitar".
