Shubb Capo Holder
« on: April 23, 2013, 01:39:08 PM »
Hey folks

Here is a simple to make capo holder for your shubb capos.  I got the idea from the internet.

I  went to a dollar store and purchased a key holder that had a belt clip on it.  (You could use a money clip or even a belt clip from a tape measure).
I then bought a package of  Nystrom readyhook cable clips from Canadian Tire.

After removing the belt clip from the retractable key holder I simply stuck (peel and stick) the cable clip onto the beltclip and attached the contraption to my guitar strap.

It locks onto the rubber part of the shubb snugly and has a release tab that stays locked until you need to release it.

I will road test it soon but so far it seems to be great!

I saw the same concept on "The Red Green Show" last week but he used 13 yards of duct tape and the seat covers from a 1963 Rambler.  ;D

Ok, the road test is over and the capo holder did not pass the test.  The plastic hinge is too thin and broke after the second night of practice.  So, back to the drawing board...I am thinking of attaching some 1/2" clear tube to the belt clip and see how well it holds.  In the meantime I am just simply clamping the capo to the nut when I am not using it.  I have to loosen the screw a bit to clamp it there and then readjust when I go to use it on the neck, but it works pretty good.

What I did was, I got a couple of roofing nails and tacked a piece of garden hose to my Taylor, right above where you plug in on the bottom of the guitar.

This works real nice, and it doesn't get in your way when playing real fast, stuff like "White Lightnin" and "She'll Be Coming 'Round The Mountain".

Ok...I removed the top half of the cable holder and cut a piece of 1/2" PVC tubing and used gel crazy glue and attached it to the bottom half.  The capo slides in there and stays put...Works great so far...another road test coming up :-)

Yes, they were.  And galvanized.  Don't want any rusting going on.
